In the 23rd World Martial Arts Tournament final, Piccolo Junior dominates with stretching arms, a Special Beam Cannon, afterimages, and a giant form. Seeing he cannot keep up in weighted clothes, Goku sheds the load he wore for three years under Kami and explodes with speed. Kami tries to fuse with Piccolo—once one being—to seal the demon away, but Goku refuses and insists on winning alone. Impaled and near death, he reverses the fight with a Super Kamehameha and a diving blow that fells Piccolo Junior. Goku lets him live; Piccolo flees after leaving an egg. The champion marries Chi-Chi, who had watched herself hoarse, and the boy Goku's tournament saga closes here.
